Fractured City…

Fractured City is to be screened at the QFT  as part of a charity event, http://www.geraldinesjourney.com, this Saturday at 2pm. I worked on this last year with an amazing cast that included film industry stalwarts like Gerard McSorley & Martin McCann.

I met director Sean Murray after seeing his first short film ‘Coco’. After sharing stories of heading out to places like The Arena and Kelly’s in our youth I was delighted to be offered the role of Sean, uncle of the main protagonist, Paul (played by Ciaran Court).

‘Fractured City’ charts the story of two friends, Paul and Seamy, growing up in Belfast during a period of political turmoil. Belfast in the 1990s could have been mistaken for any other city but the legacy of war ensured otherwise. The new dance culture was kicking in and the raves were doing something that no one had seen before – getting people together. But the drugs that came with it were always going to be a problem. Some groups were selling them, and some were killing you for selling them. After attending a nightclub, the lives of both men change forever after an unfortunate encounter with a leading paramilitary.image

This film has exceeded all expectations with a successful film festival run and the director picking up a Royal Television Society award.

“2p” selected for The Arizona Film Festival 2012!

The old saying goes “If you look after the pennies, the pounds will look after themselves“…  you could apply this to the short film I worked on last year, 2p, as it has been selected by the The Arizona Film Festival this year.

From its small budget and a lot of heart from the cast and crew, 2p is certainly reaping its rewards.

Well done to everyone involved and a big thanks to producer Larry Cowan (Lamb Films) and Director Will Maloney for letting me play the role of Billy!

Keep an eye for 2p coming to festival near you soon!

“2p” has arrived!

“Some people say it’s the small things in life that count, and I believe that.”

Just one of the lines from 2p starring myself and Mary-Frances Doherty. The final cut has been entered into the Virgin Media shorts competition and it doesn’t disappoint.

Will Maloney has done an amazing job with the writing, directing and editing. I hope we get to work together again soon.

I would like to thank Will and Larry from Lamb Films for having me on board, it was a privilege to work on this project with such talented people as cinematographer Denis Maloney and everyone else on the production team.

It was a bit of a step into the unknown for me as this is probably the most lighthearted, fun role I’ve ever taken on – I hope you enjoy it and if you do, tell all your friends and pass it on!

As the phrase goes (well sort of) “View once! View often!”

“2p”… New Movie

This weekend I will be filming the movie, 2p.

It’s an interesting, fun short film and I’m really excited about playing the starring role of ‘Billy’.

Synopsis:
Billy has an odd obsession.
He takes pride in his work as a nightclub PR rep between the hours of nine and five, but Billy’s life’s passion is collecting 2p coins. He takes incredible joy in his small change hobby, learning the value of enjoying the tiny things life has to offer.

The director is Will Maloney and it will be produced by Larry Cowan of Lamb Films. 2p will be entered into the Virgin Media Shorts Competition. (No doubt you will hear more from me shortly, when I’ll be asking for your votes!!!)

I can’t wait to get started!
